Courtney Penniman, MSW, LISAC, CADAC, ICADC
Founder and CEO


Courtney is the Founder and CEO of Stonewall Institute. With over 12 years of behavioral health experience, 
Courtney holds a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from Arizona State University, and is independently licensed through the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners. In addition, she is an Internationally Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor.  Courtney upholds the industry’s highest standards of practice through exceptional ethics, integrity, and aptitude. Her clinical approach is best described as non-hierarchical, holistic, and strengths-based.  Mutuality and authenticity are key elements in helping people to recover from mental health and addiction issues and Courtney has an innate gift of being able to connect with people from all walks of life. Courtney's philosophy regarding mental health and addiction recovery, combined with her entrepreneurial spirit, led to the creation of Stonewall Institute.
                 

 

Barry F. Aneda, MS, LPC, NCC, RPSGT
Licensed Clinician

Barry is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Arizona and a Nationally Certified Counselor. He graduated from Georgia State University with a Master of Science degree in professional counseling. Barry’s specialties consist of working with mental health/health issues such as depression, anxiety, grief, stress, sleep disorders, and HIV/AIDS. His distinct area of expertise is in working with our lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered, and questioning (LGBTQ) community and struggles related to sexual orientation and sexuality. His theoretical orientation of practice consists of person centered, cognitive behavioral, and gestalt techniques in order to promote and maintain positive life changes. Overall, Barry wants to provide a forum where self discovery and personal success are encouraged.





Kevin Christopher, BS
Recovery Coach

Kevin holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Addiction Counseling from Grand Canyon University and is currently obtaining a Master of Science degree in Addiction Counseling. Kevin is also a Certified Life Coach having received his education and training through the Southwest Institute for Healing Arts. Kevin’s area of specialization includes the treatment of co-occurring disorders, attachment issues and adoption, and counseling services for LGBTQ families with children. His philosophy is to inspire, support, and motivate people in making meaningful and lasting changes. Kevin is a native of Scottsdale, AZ where he currently resides with his partner and their three children.






Susan J. Simpson, BS
Recovery Coach

Susan facilitates DUI Services for Stonewall Institute. She holds a bachelor of science degree from Charter Oak State College in New Britain, Connecticut and her prior behavioral health experience includes expertise in the areas of crisis management, medication monitoring, and support services for people with serious mental illness. In addition, she is highly knowledgeable in the areas of addiction recovery and cultural competency with diverse populations.










Angela C. Tanner

Office Manager


Angela brings a wealth of managerial office experience to her role at Stonewall Institute. Having formerly served in a variety of top level executive office positions, her proficiency in medical billing procedures, business accounting, and Microsoft Office software programs allow her to significantly contribute to the overall success of our business. In addition to her administrative office skills, Angela is a staunch advocate of treatment and recovery. She is currently completing college course work to become a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. She and her partner reside in central Phoenix.
